Booth Battling the Bay for a Consecutive Win

Booth Chasing ‘King of the Cut’ Crown

Australia’s Michael Booth will take on the best SUP paddlers this weekend in a premiere ocean challenge, ‘King of the Cut’, to be held at Secret Harbour, Mandurah, Western Australia.

The King of the Cut is one of the biggest and most prestigious downwind races held in Australia. The race is 24km long and considered a downwinders paradise.

“The King of the Cut is one of the best downwind events in the World. No doubt this weekend is going to be challenging with plenty of big names making their way from the East Coast, and overseas to W.A to compete”, said Booth.

The race will be held on Saturday from 1pm with organisers using the best conditions of the 48-hour window to ensure prime ocean racing conditions.

“Conditions clearly play a huge part in a downwinding race, so it’s a good call that officials decided to race tomorrow with good South West winds predicted”

“The race will be interesting this year as there will be a few paddlers at the top end that have a lot of experience on the unlimited and in bump-riding”.

Booth is known as one of the strongest and fittest distance paddlers of the field, so the 24km King of the Cut paddle is right up his alley.

“The Doctor was a good tester for me but I’m excited to see what I can do this weekend”.

Having had a year of more ups and then downs, Booth is eager to finish the last race of the 2017 season with another great result.

“I think it will greatly come down to who the conditions are best suited to on the day, it will be a hard fought battle that’s for sure. Hopefully I can put on a good show”.

Booth will be competing against internationals Bernd Rodinger and Titouan Puyo as well as elite Australian paddlers Travis Grant, James Casey, Matt Nottage, Jake Jensen, Beau O’Brian to take out the title.

“I would love nothing more than to finish the year on top, after all you’re only as good as your last race!”
